Collection: Azilal

The Azilal rug comes from the remote and rugged Azilal region in the High Atlas Mountains, south of the town of Beni Mellal. Azilal rugs are woven by Berber women for their domestic use and are 100% virgin wool, showing alternating patterns made from a single line of knots and one or two lines woven according to a ritual passed down from mother to daughter for several generations. In terms of design, Azilal rugs combine colorful abstract and irregular patterns with many Berber style symbols. They are often decorated with other materials such as cotton and wool dyed with different vegetable colors or recycled fabric threads.
