Meaning: The First

Dimensions: 1.65m X 1.12m - 5'4" X 3'7"

The Hendira, Handira or wedding blanket should be listed under ready to wear instead of rugs or carpets, it’s a cloak worn by the bride the day of her wedding but also in a daily basis in certain areas of the Atlas Mountains.
Nowadays people use Handiras as bedspreads, wall art or sofa covers. We would love to see more people wearing them like they are intended to. Warm and fuzzy, they make a beautiful statement pieces for a cocktail dinner or a Christmas party during the chilly season.
The hendira has a wide range of designs, decorations and patterns. It’s used to make a statement about the person’s tribe and social status.
Most of the Handiras would have loose loops of wool in one side for the snow season. The snow would fall off the loops in order to keep the wedding blanket dry.
